Kenyan comedian and activist Eric Omondi has claimed that authorities blocked his planned #TukoKadi concert from taking place at Uhuru Park.
According to Omondi, his team was denied access to the venue while preparing for the event, which had been scheduled for Sunday, May 3.
The comedian said officers at the scene informed organisers that they were acting on “orders from above,” preventing any setup activities ahead of the concert.
The #TukoKadi event was reportedly organised as a youth voter sensitisation campaign aimed at encouraging young Kenyans to register as voters ahead of future elections.
Omondi noted that the concert had attracted a lineup of more than 10 Kenyan artists who were expected to perform during the event.
The incident has since sparked debate online, with some Kenyans questioning the reasons behind the alleged cancellation, while others expressed concern over restrictions on civic awareness initiatives targeting young people.
Neither the authorities nor officials managing the venue had publicly issued a detailed explanation regarding the reported blockage by the time the matter gained attention online.
