The government has attributed recent fuel supply disruptions reported in parts of the country to a technical and administrative hitch affecting some oil marketers.
In a statement, Opiyo Wandayi said the issue temporarily disrupted the smooth uptake of petroleum products by a section of companies operating within the downstream supply chain.
According to the Cabinet Secretary, the hitch led to fuel shortages at some isolated filling stations across the country.
However, Wandayi assured the public that the issue had already been resolved and efforts were underway to restore normal supply.
“The Ministry is working closely with industry stakeholders to normalise deliveries. Fuel restocking in various filling stations is underway, and normal supply across the country will be attained by the end of the day,” he stated.
The CS further dismissed fears of a nationwide fuel crisis, insisting that the country still has adequate fuel reserves.
“The Ministry wishes to reassure Kenyans that the country has adequate fuel stocks. There should be no cause for alarm,” Wandayi added.
The statement comes amid concerns from motorists in some regions who had reported delays and shortages at selected petrol stations.
