In a major operation carried out on Monday, October 30, local authorities successfully neutralized two members of the al-Shabaab terrorist group who had been masquerading as medical practitioners within their camp in Fafi, Garissa County.
The incident unfolded at a remote ‘medical base’ established by the group in the Hagarso area, in Garissa County.
Law enforcement officials have expressed concerns that a significant number of additional terrorists may be lurking in the vicinity, heightening the need for continued vigilance.
During the operation, a multi-agency task force managed to seize a cache of medical supplies.

They also found materials used for constructing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the camp.
Ground personnel involved in the operation disclosed that the two al-Shabaab “doctors” who were eliminated had been responsible for providing medical care to militants injured during encounters with security agencies.
This shocking discovery revealed the complex network of support that the terror group maintains.
This recent raid is part of ongoing efforts aimed at disrupting the operational infrastructure of the al-Shabaab in the region.
Prior to this operation, the terrorists had employed a remote-controlled explosive device targeting a police vehicle. This attack resulted in the loss of at least two General Service Unit members in Dadaab, Garissa County.
The officers were on their way to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. Four other officers sustained serious injuries in the attack.
