Police in Vihiga County have arrested and detained a 70-year-old man on charges of defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Hamisi sub-county Police Commander Patrick Gogo while confirming the incident, stated that the victim was a Grade 3 pupil.
Commander Gogo further highlighted the concerning trend of rising cases of defilement and incest in the region.
The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting formal arraignment.
The police have also called on members of the public to work closely with them to report cases of abuse.
