Keiyo South police, led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of 500 boxes of government textbooks intended for Junior Secondary School.
The textbooks, designated for Nyamira North and Nyamira South, were discovered discarded along the Kaptagat Kaptarakwa Marum Road inside Kaptagat Forest on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Preliminary findings suggest a potential hijacking scenario, wherein the perpetrators took control of the vehicle transporting the textbooks.
Subsequently, the hijackers unloaded the educational materials along the roadside and absconded with the vehicle.
Authorities are actively pursuing leads to unravel the motives behind this unusual incident, prompting concerns about the safety and security of educational resources in the region.
