Ugandan authorities are detaining a 34-year-old man accused of dismembering his nine-year-old nephew and then instructing his wife to cook and serve the remains.
The horrifying incident occurred on Sunday, January 14, in Ntungamo District. The suspect allegedly committed the gruesome act before presenting the chopped remains of his elder brother’s son to his wife in a saucepan.
Upon discovering the horrifying contents, the suspect’s wife raised the alarm, prompting residents in the area to respond. They positively identified the deceased child, leading to the arrest of the suspect, who is currently in custody.
According to Rubaare Sub-County District Councillor John Kabeho, the suspect committed the brutal murder while his wife was away from home. Kabeho explained, “The suspect was left home with the child while his wife and his child went to church. When the wife returned from church, her husband told her that he had bought some meat and it was in a saucepan in the kitchen. He instructed the wife to cook it immediately because he was hungry.”
Upon entering the kitchen, the wife made the shocking discovery of chopped pieces of human meat in the pan. While investigations into the incident are ongoing, Councillor Kabeho noted that the suspect has a history of mental instability.
