A man was lynchedby an angry mob on Friday in Matuu, Machakos County, after being caught red handed while stealing chicken.
The suspect, who had recently been released from custody after serving time for a prior offence, was accused of stealing two hens, cleverly concealing them in a sack.
His intention to sell the stolen birds in Matuu town was foiled when locals quickly apprehended him as he traversed the area with his ill-gotten loot.
Seeking information about the stolen goods, the infuriated crowd resorted to mob justice, leading to the suspect’s untimely death.
In the aftermath of this unfortunate episode, the deceased’s body was transferred to the Matuu Level IV Hospital morgue, where it awaits further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
