A 25-year-old woman, Christine Auma, was attacked and murdered on Wednesday at her home in Boya village, Ndhiwa, within Homa Bay County. Her headless body was discovered by her family lying in a pool of blood in the family’s kitchen house.
According to police reports, Auma was attacked by unknown assailants while preparing ugali for her family. She was alone in the kitchen when she was attacked.
Her husband and other family members were gathered in the main house, a separate building within the homestead.
According to the area Assistant Chief, Milton Kawino, Auma’s husband rushed to the kitchen upon hearing a commotion. On reaching the kitchen, he found his wife’s lifeless body on the floor, with her head missing.
“The suspects disappeared into the darkness, and their whereabouts have not yet been established,” Chief Kawino stated.
Questions have arisen regarding how the assailants managed to execute the heinous act and escape without detection.
Ndhiwa Sub-County Police Commander Paul Rioba confirmed the shocking incident.
“Our officers are actively investigating the matter. At the moment, we are trying to hunt down the assailants and establish the motive of the attack,” Rioba stated.
The deceased’s body is currently at the Manyatta Kobodo mortuary.
