Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has officially appointed Charlene Ruto, the daughter of President William Ruto, as the Kenya Blood Ambassador.
The announcement came through a statement from the CS, acknowledging Charlene’s consistent efforts in advocating for blood donation campaigns and encouraging the public to participate in the initiative.
CS Nakhumicha highlighted Charlene’s impact, noting that more Kenyan youth are joining the cause, contributing to the ongoing campaigns aimed at saving lives. The statement commended Charlene for her selfless contributions, including blood donation, advocacy, education, and mobilization of family members, community, peers, and the broader Kenyan population to actively engage in blood donations.
The appointment letter stated, “This letter is to appoint you as a Kenya Blood Ambassador and ask that you continue to be a spokesperson to your friends, Kenyan Youth family, peers, and Kenyan citizens. Engage and encourage people to give blood to save lives; from time to time collaborate with the Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority or partners in blood-related events, including public education and resource mobilization.”
Charlene Ruto has been a dedicated advocate for equality and the rights of the less privileged in society. Her initiatives include the “30 Things” program, focusing on Youth in Action, Youth and the Society, and Climate Action. Her official website emphasizes her commitment to ensuring young people’s ideas translate into actionable entrepreneurship platforms, promoting a holistic approach to life encompassing career, emotional, financial, mental, physical, and social well-being.
Charlene’s involvement in political meetings following President Ruto’s election in the August General Election has sparked discussions. During these meetings, she referred to the “Office of the First Daughter,” leading to speculation about its funding sources and potential use of taxpayers’ money.
