Safaricom has officially acknowledged an operational glitch within its mobile payment service, M-Pesa PayBill. The telcom giant acknowledged that on Monday night, its PayBill service had suffered a hitch that affected some transactions.

In a statement released on Tuesday morning, the telecommunications giant acknowledged the existence of recurring service intermittency that has impacted certain PayBill transactions.

“We are currently facing intermittent service disruptions impacting some PayBill payments. Our technical team is actively addressing the issue, and we will keep you informed as soon as regular services are restored,” Safaricom stated.

“We experienced service intermittence with PayBill payments that resulted in some transactions not being completed on M-Pesa,” Safaricom added.

The service provider, however, said it had resolved the anomaly and the service was back on.

“The technical issue has since been resolved and we continue to monitor the services closely. We apologise for any inconvenience that this disruption may have caused.”

This is not the first time this year that the Telco is facing system glitches. Two weeks ago, M-Pesa suffered momentary downtime which was restored hours later.
