Detectives are on the trail of a gang responsible for attacking and robbing a female police officer of her firearm under murky circumstances in Kasarani, Nairobi

The incident unfolded when a Constable, stationed at Githurai police station, was on night patrol duties with her colleague. They were ambushed by three armed men brandishing a pistol, who swiftly seized her AK47 rifle loaded with 30 bullets before vanishing into the cover of darkness.

The confrontation occurred within the Kiwanjani area, catching the officers off guard.

“The officer lost her Scorpion firearm, which was loaded with 24 rounds of ammunition. Investigations are underway,” stated police headquarters.

Senior officers, accompanied by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), swiftly responded to the scene to assess the situation.

This latest incident exacerbates concerns over the proliferation of deadly weapons among criminal elements, despite concerted efforts to combat armed gangs nationwide.

The alarming trend of police firearms being stolen in recent months only serves to heighten security apprehensions across the region.
