The Nairobi Polo Club responded to allegations of a sexual assault incident during one of its events, asserting a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct.
Videos of the alleged incident have circulated online with a lady accusing patrons of the club of groping her friend who was intoxicated. The gropers when questioned then responded by saying, “molestation is a choice’.
The video has sparked widespread outrage on social media platforms, with the lady identified as Charlotte and her friend, Zoena, attracting solidarity from fellow women and netizens.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 20, the club affirmed its commitment to the safety and well-being of its members and visitors. Despite not being alerted to the incident by its security teams, the club pledged to engage the police and private security to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
“In response to the recent alleged assault incident at Nairobi Polo Club, we want to emphatically state that the club does not tolerate any form of misconduct by any party. The well-being and safety of our members and visitors are paramount.
“Our security teams were not notified of the incident – however, we have engaged the police and private security teams to address and investigate these allegations,” read the statement in part.
The club reiterated its dedication to creating an inclusive and secure environment for all attendees.
