Margaret Wanjiru, the founder of Jesus is Alive Ministries, has accused undisclosed government operatives of orchestrating the unlawful demolition of her church and assaulting her leading to injuries.
The bishop alleges that the Kenya Kwanza Government, despite her significant involvement in previous election campaigns, had neglected her.
Wanjiru further claims to have sustained injuries during the incident on Wednesday, February 06.
Photos circulating on social media showed the UDA politician receiving treatment in a city hospital. The photos depict her seated on a wheelchair, with a sling on her arm and an IV line attached to her left hand.
“I’ve been beaten, I’m injured in the arm and leg, I need to go to the hospital, my people have also been beaten, everyone is bleeding,” Wanjiru cried.
“These people attacked us today, saying they were sent by Railways”, she added.
According to Wanjiru, individuals identifying themselves as officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Intelligence Service (NIS) had visited the property on Haile Selassie Highway before its demolition.
She further described how other individuals purportedly sent by Kenya Railways arrived at the property on Wednesday and commenced demolitions, resorting to use of force against anyone who opposed them.
“I want to state categorically that this property on Weruga Lane does not belong to Railways; this is our own investment, our church property. For someone to come and destroy our church, beat us, and damage our property… these are our possessions, they have taken away our speakers, they have hurt us badly,” the bishop said.
