Gospel artist Christopher Mosioma, popularly known as Embarambamba, has slammed the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) for its recent demands concerning his music.
The musician further criticized KFCB’s demand for a hefty fine of Sh6.4 million, labeling it as “callous,”. He further hit out at the KFCB for penalizing him for his creativity in producing music as a result of his “genius ideas.”
KFCB issued an order on Tuesday, instructing the musician to remove all his music videos from his YouTube channel and other social media platforms within the next two days, as per their earlier notice. Failure to do this, KFCB threatened to take legal action.
However, in a letter addressed to the KFCB through his lawyer, Danstan Omari, Embarambamba expressed his discontent, citing discrimination and claiming that his songs had been unfairly targeted.
“One of the songs in question, ‘Niko Uchi,’ is part of his ingenious creations aimed at reaching the deaf, who may not hear his message but can understand it through the visuals and scenes of the song,” Omari stated in the letter.
“It is therefore surprising and disheartening that instead of celebrating our client’s creativity and innovative ministry ideas, you have chosen to discourage and intimidate him with scandalous and unwarranted demands.”
Omari argued that KFCB was being discriminatory and hostile towards Embarambamba.
