The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has apprehended four individuals in an operation aimed at curbing the sale and consumption of shisha products.
NACADA’s Compliance and Enforcement officers, acting on intelligence, conducted the operation at Oyster Bay Cafe Restaurant in Kilimani, Nairobi.
The four individuals taken into custody, include the manager, sellers, and a storekeeper.
“These arrests mark a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to combat the scourge of shisha consumption,” emphasized NACADA.
“We are determined to dismantle networks facilitating the sale and distribution of shisha, which poses substantial health risks, especially to the youth.”
The operation resulted in the confiscation of a considerable quantity of shisha paraphernalia, comprising 46 shisha bongs, assorted flavored tobacco, charcoal pipes, and a meticulous stock-taking counterbook used in inventory management.
The detained individuals are presently in custody, awaiting the conclusion of thorough investigations.
Subsequently, they will be brought to court to face charges related to their involvement in the illegal shisha trade.
