The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a forecast indicating that heavy rainfall will persist in various parts of the country from Saturday through Wednesday, according to its latest weather bulletin.
Director of KMD, Kennedy Thiong’o, highlighted the likelihood of isolated storms in certain areas as well.
He specified that rainfall is anticipated in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Coast and North-western regions.
Conversely, the North-eastern parts of Kenya are expected to remain generally sunny and dry during this period.
Specifically, regions such as the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley are expected to experience a combination of rainfall, showers, and thunderstorms during the day, with showers continuing into the night.
Maximum temperatures in these areas are projected to reach 33 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures hovering around 10 degrees Celsius.
In the North-western region, including Turkana and Samburu counties, temperatures are expected to soar to a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius, accompanied by isolated rainfall in certain parts.
Meanwhile, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, will witness showers in various locations, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius.
The South-eastern lowlands and the Coastal region are also slated to experience widespread showers, with maximum temperatures predicted to reach 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 15 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, isolated areas in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties are expected to receive rainfall, with maximum temperatures forecasted at 40 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius.
