Terminal 1E at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been reopened after being temporarily closed due to a fire incident early Monday morning. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) provided an update on Monday, stating that the terminal is now back in operation.
“Further to our earlier statement, we’re pleased to announce that Terminal 1E (T1E) at JKIA is now fully operational,” the authority announced.
The fire, caused by an electrical fault, occurred at Terminal 1E of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday morning. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly contained, and there were no injuries or casualties reported, according to KAA.
“As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all within our premises, power to Terminal 1E has been temporarily shut off,” KAA stated.
To minimize inconvenience, all flight arrival operations have been redirected to Terminal 1A until further notice. Passengers and staff were safely evacuated from the affected area during the incident.
