Popular YouTuber MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, recently undertook one of his toughest challenges yet: spending seven days in an abandoned city. The challenge, which took place in Kupari, a deserted Croatian coastal town near Dubrovnik, has garnered massive attention, amassing over 76 million views since its release two days ago.
Kupari, once a bustling tourist destination with seven historic hotels dating back to the 1920s, now lies abandoned since the Croatian War of Independence in 1991.
Equipped with essential supplies like water, instant food, and sleeping bags, Jimmy and his friends set up camp in one of the dilapidated buildings, braving severe cold and eerie surroundings. The challenge wasn’t without its perils, as team members woke up to the sound of glass shattering, prompting two of them to leave when half of their water supply was destroyed.
Left with only a few team members, Jimmy Donaldson and Mark Rober persevered through loneliness and adversity to complete the challenge. Jimmy emphasized the mental toll of isolation, reflecting on the difficulty of coping with loneliness amidst the abandoned surroundings.
This daring feat isn’t MrBeast’s first brush with extreme challenges. In November, he spent seven days sealed inside a coffin buried underground, an experience he described as mentally agonizing. Despite the safety precautions, including state-of-the-art cameras monitoring his underground journey, the ordeal took a toll on his emotional well-being.
Entrusting his life to the transparent coffin buried beneath 20,000 pounds of mud, MrBeast communicated with his team using a walkie-talkie while underground. The confinement proved exhausting, leading to tears and concerns about potential health risks.
Fortunately, Jimmy emerged from his underground internment unscathed, highlighting the physical and emotional toll of pushing the limits in pursuit of extraordinary challenges.
