Police in Lang’ata have launched an intensive investigation into the unclear circumstances surrounding the death of a senior Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) official. Charity Tubarandi Kigera, 41, who served as a KRA Assistant Manager, was discovered dead inside her residence at the affluent Sun Valley Estate in Nairobi.
According to an official police Occurrence Book (OB) report, law enforcement officers discovered Kigera’s body hanging from a closet drawer with a leso tied tightly around her neck. The discovery followed an emergency alert raised by a worried relative.
Detectives Forced to Break Into Locked Bedroom
The circumstances surrounding the entry into the house have deepened the ongoing mystery. Arriving at the scene, responding police officers found the master bedroom firmly locked from the inside. This forced the detectives to break down the door to gain access to the room where the body was located.
Compounding the questions facing investigators, crime scene experts confirmed that no suicide note was recovered anywhere on the premises.
Autopsy to Establish the Exact Cause of Death
Homicide detectives and forensic teams have thoroughly processed and documented the scene for physical clues. Police are exploring all angles to determine whether the incident was a tragic suicide or points to foul play.
The body of the deceased has since been transferred to a local mortuary. Medical examiners are expected to perform an autopsy examination to officially establish the precise cause and time of death.
