Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has reiterated his dedication to reducing noise pollution in residential areas.
He emphasized the adverse effects of loud music from nightclubs in neighborhoods, particularly on school-going children.
Sakaja firmly stated, “We will no longer tolerate nightclubs in our estates. There is no way our children should be doing their school homework while nightclubs blast loud music in the neighborhood.”
In addition to addressing noise concerns, Sakaja disclosed that the ongoing crackdown on wines & spirits joints and small bars around bus terminals is motivated by a report from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). The report highlights the significant contribution of drunk driving to road accidents and fatalities in the city.
The Governor made these remarks during a visit to Lang’ata Sub-County, where he participated in a Sunday service at ACK St. Paul South C Parish. Later, Sakaja joined worshippers at the AIPCA church in Kayole.
Earlier in the day, he attended the PCEA Gateway Church Service in Roysambu Constituency, where he joined Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. The Governor’s actions underscore his commitment to addressing both noise pollution and the broader issues of road safety in Nairobi.
