A tragic mid-air collision between two planes in Nairobi has resulted in the loss of two lives, with one aircraft crashing into the Nairobi National Park.
The incident involved a Cessna aircraft from Ninety-Nines Flying School, carrying a trainee pilot and instructor, who both perished in the crash. The collision occurred within the Nairobi National Park, claiming the lives of the occupants on board.
The second aircraft involved in the collision was a Dash 8 belonging to Safarilink Aviation Limited. Passengers reported experiencing a loud bang shortly after take-off.
Fortunately, the flight, which was en route to Diani with 39 passengers and 5 crew members, managed to safely return to Nairobi-Wilson Airport. Safarilink confirmed that there were no casualties among the passengers or crew.
Safarilink Aviation released a statement acknowledging the incident and assuring the public of the safety of their flight operations.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has initiated investigations to determine the cause of the collision, with multiple agencies collaborating to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
