In Bumula constituency, Bungoma county, a tragic incident has left the community in shock as a beloved teacher was discovered dead, his body wrapped in a blanket within his own home.
Fred Lunani, a respected headteacher at a local primary school, was found deceased, prompting profound disbelief and grief among his family members. “We are very shocked. We knew him as a dedicated person and the breadwinner for his family,” expressed Lunani’s brother, Charles Mwangale.
Adding to the distress, Lunani’s wife, who was reportedly present in the house at the time of the incident, has been detained by authorities for questioning. Mwangale described the gruesome scene, revealing that his brother’s hands and legs were bound with ropes.
The family has linked Lunani’s untimely demise to a suspected love triangle, demanding justice for their loss. “We want justice to prevail and the individuals involved to be apprehended because we are mourning as a family,” Mwangale emphasized.
Bumula Member of Parliament, Jack Wamboka, condemned the heinous act and urged investigative agencies to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice. “I will also organize a security meeting within the constituency to address the rising insecurity in Bumula and the urgent need to safeguard lives and property,” he pledged.
Meanwhile, Augustine Watamba, the Knut chairperson for Bungoma South, echoed the calls for justice and urged law enforcement to expedite their investigations to apprehend the culprits. Watamba conveyed his concerns while speaking at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where Lunani’s body was taken.
