Kiambu County Assembly Deputy Speaker John Njue Njiru is facing charges of alleged bribery and is set to be arraigned before the Thika Anti-Corruption Court.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has accused Njue of soliciting a bribe amounting to Ksh. 130,000 with the promise of facilitating the development of a plot worth Ksh. 15 million within Thika Town for a complainant.
Njue, who represents the Hospital Ward, is facing charges of receiving a bribe, which is contrary to the law. He was arrested by EACC detectives on June 13, 2023, and has since been out on police bail amounting to Ksh. 100,000.
