The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has scheduled grassroots elections to commence on April 27, 2024, with the first phase set to take place in Kwale, Busia, and Siaya counties.
The elections will be conducted in phases, with subsequent phases occurring in Kajiado, Migori, and Wajir counties on April 29, and concluding in Kisii, Vihiga, and Murang’a counties on April 30.
ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna announced that the dates for elections in other counties will be determined later, following a review of the outcomes of the initial exercise.
Sifuna further stated that the party’s central committee has tasked the governing council with determining the mode of elections.
In addition to election preparations, ODM has called for the resignation of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party officials currently holding civil service positions. The party argued that appointing civil servants to party roles would regress the country to the era of dark KANU days.
