A 16-year-old male student was swept away by a flood while swimming in Bomet County’s flooded Sise River on Sunday.

The incident occurred while the student, accompanied by two others, was swimming. They were suddenly caught by powerful currents and submerged.

His companions immediately raised an alarm, prompting the public to join in the search, but unfortunately, they were unable to locate the body.

It was reported that the student had persuaded his friends to join him on the outing, and after they agreed, they went swimming.

Both the county disaster team and volunteers are now involved in search efforts. However, ongoing rainfall is complicating the operation, as stated by disaster management officers led by Stanley Mutai.
