Jane Waigwe Kimani, the wife of former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, and her brother Solomon Mutura Kimani, have been arrested in connection with an alleged corruption case involving Ksh. 140 million in Murang’a County.
The arrests were made by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Wednesday, and the suspects were taken to the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court for arraignment. Eric Ngumbi, the EACC spokesperson, confirmed the arrests and stated that the two are directors of Value View Ltd, a company believed to have been used as part of the fraudulent scheme.
While Jane Waigwe Kimani and Solomon Mutura Kimani were taken into custody, the EACC is still pursuing six other suspects, including the former governor, who reportedly failed to respond to summons to appear before the commission on Wednesday morning.
