When it comes to career paths, marketability is among the top factors to consider when choosing a path. The ability of a course to sell itself is a definite reason for choosing the specific courses. Most institutions of higher learning will also attempt to sell the most marketable courses.

But again, the appeal of a job immediately after school will also matter since nobody wants to ‘tarmac’ for long. Hence it is crucial to not just go for most marketable courses but also the ones that lead to jobs.

The overall unemployment rate in Kenya stands at 12.7 %. However, the youth (15 – 34 year olds), who form 35 percent of the Kenyan population, have the highest unemployment rate of 67 %.

Over one million young people enter into the labour market annually without any skills some having either dropped out of school or completed school and not enrolled in any college. It is therefore crucial for those aspiring for a better future to look for the best course that offers a future.

Another key issue to consider is the quality of education available. Universities and colleges are usually ranked based on various metrics and its important to go to reputable campuses.

The most marketable courses are described below and reasons to choose them alongside the description.

3. Computer Science

Why Choose Computer Science?
Computer science focuses on the study of computing and automating processes. As technology advances, there’s a growing need for experts in this field. Computer science skills are essential in various industries, including healthcare, education, and many tech-driven sectors.

Opportunities: The versatility of computer science makes it a valuable and ever-relevant course. Graduates can adapt to numerous roles, ensuring long-term career prospects.
