University of Nairobi leads in ranking of Kenya’s top universities

UNIRANKS, the renowned global platform for ranking and categorizing higher education institutions, has released its prestigious list of top universities for the year 2023.

The objective of this ranking is to provide students with a comprehensive assessment of universities worldwide. UNIRANKS evaluates universities based on criteria such as education quality, student satisfaction, equality, inclusion, facilities, and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Utilizing data from over 30,000 international universities and input from more than 2.5 million academics, UNIRANKS employs modern methodologies focused on transparency and equality, ushering in a new era of open rankings.

This ranking encompasses both public and private universities, offering valuable insights into the higher education landscape. In Kenya, the top-ranked universities have demonstrated their commitment to providing a high-quality educational environment that respects human rights and facilitates academic growth, as assessed by UNIRANKS.

In the public university category, the University of Nairobi secures the top spot, while Strathmore University leads in the private university sector.

Other notable institutions that have achieved positions within the top 20 include Kenyatta University, Moi University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, United States International University Africa (USIU-Africa), and Egerton University, among others.
