Detectives are investigating the mysterious death of Mathenge Peter, an aspiring UDA politician and businessman, whose body was discovered in a guest house in Karatina town, Nyeri County.

Mathenge, who had previously run unsuccessfully for an MCA seat on a UDA ticket, was found lifeless in a room he had booked, with no visible injuries on his body.

Two notes were found listing Mathenge’s wealth and the locations of his possessions—one in the guest room and another in his car. Additionally, an envelope in the car contained contact information for his siblings, along with a notebook detailing his properties and their locations.

The incident came to light when a cleaner, attempting to clean the room the next morning, received no response after knocking on the door. The management was alerted, and they broke into the room to find Mathenge’s body, prompting them to notify the police. His car was parked outside the guesthouse.

Mathira East Police Commander Benjamin Boen confirmed the incident, indicating that the investigation is ongoing. Mathenge was the CEO of Slopes Optical Limited, an eye chemist.
