A dramatic scene unfolded near Fedha Estate in Nairobi County as a lorry transporting a tank of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) burst into flames, triggering panic among residents and commuters.

The gas tanker exploded in close proximity to a busy bus terminal, sending thick plumes of smoke billowing into the air, as captured in photos and video clips circulating online.

Emergency service providers swiftly responded to the scene, mobilizing residents to evacuate the area for their safety. Footage from the incident captured residents being escorted away from the vicinity as authorities worked to contain the situation.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei emphasized the primary focus on evacuating the area and ensuring the safety of nearby residents. Traffic flow on the affected road was temporarily halted, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes.

As of now, the cause of the explosion remains unclear, and authorities are yet to confirm the status of the lorry driver.

This incident adds to a string of recent gas-related emergencies, including a previous explosion in the Embakasi area.
