Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has recently trended online after a famous blogger alleged that her husband hired goons to attack the county’s Chief of Staff, Charles Odhiambo.
The blogger claimed that Odhiambo was ambushed and brutally beaten, leaving him in critical condition.
However, Governor Wanga, who is currently in New York for the UN Commission on the Status of Women, dismissed the allegations as baseless political propaganda.
In a tweet on March 17, she stated, “Chilly morning here in New York as we wind our week long meetings at CSW. Na muache propaganda. Fortunately I’m battle hardened, focused, and undeterred. Blessed week ahead!”
Wanga emphasized that her focus remains on serving the people who elected her.
Adding to the controversy, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo condemned the blogger’s actions on social media.
She warned that targeting women leaders with unfounded allegations, particularly those concerning personal issues, was unacceptable and vowed to take legal action against anyone attempting to tarnish Governor Wanga’s reputation.
Earlier on the same day, Charles Odhiambo spoke to Ramogi TV to refute the rumors of his alleged attack.
The former journalist described the claims as “baseless propaganda” and assured the public that he was in perfect health. Odhiambo explained that, contrary to reports, he was not hospitalized but was instead seen attending to his vehicle at Yaya Centre.
He acknowledged that smear campaigns are common in politics and suggested that his political rivals are using misinformation to undermine his rising influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
