KAMPALA, UGANDA, JUNE 30, 2025 — Fresh DNA test results have revealed that only four out of nine children linked to the late Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya are biologically his, intensifying the ongoing inheritance dispute surrounding his estate.
In a stunning revelation, five of the nine children who underwent testing — including the last-born child — were found not to be fathered by the deceased legislator. The results now cast significant doubt on multiple women’s claims over Ssegirinya’s estate and family legacy.
“DNA confirmed that all the two children of Akandinda are not for the late Ssegirinya,” said Muhammad Luswa Luwemba, the late MP’s aide.
Immaculate Akandinda, one of the most high-profile alleged widows, had previously taken a prominent role during the late MP’s funeral and even attempted to run in the Kawempe North by-election, where competing factions of alleged widows were seen backing different candidates.

🏠 Property Battle Escalates as DNA Results Emerge
Another woman, identified as Nalongo Joy, who had presented a baby during the funeral, was also found not to have a child fathered by the MP. According to Luwemba, the DNA test results are considered conclusive, but several women are now considering legal appeals.
“I didn’t know that even in DNA they make an appeal… but we are open to that,” he said, adding that they are willing to accommodate further tests at labs of the women’s choosing.
Luwemba also confirmed that once legal procedures conclude, those not linked biologically to the late MP through their children will be granted time to vacate his properties.
⚖️ Inheritance Dispute Nears Turning Point
Ssegirinya’s passing in January 2025 ignited a public and highly emotional battle over his property, with multiple women claiming to be his widows and mothers of his children. The findings from the DNA tests may now serve as a crucial turning point in resolving the estate conflict, although any formal appeals could delay closure.
