The family of two minors who went missing three weeks ago after boarding a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) in Lucky Summer, Baba Dogo area, is pleading for help in tracing them.
The Disappearance
The two, Juneida Ashuma (3) and Ketra Alisi (10), were last seen after boarding a matatu from Nairobi’s Jamia area, where they had gone to eat chips. According to their mother, Josphine Otindo, Ketra’s leg condition had forced the family to place her and Juneida in the PSV while the rest of the family walked home.
“Walikuwa wanatoka Jamia kukula chipo na Ketra mguu ilikuwa inamuuma ikabidi waweke Ketra na Juneida kwa matatu wakuje home wengine wakuje kwa miguu. Vile walifika hapa kuuliza shosho wakaambiwa watoto bado hawajafika,” she said.
However, the children never arrived home.
Family in Distress
Their grandmother, Catherine Otindo, said the disappearance has deeply affected the family, leaving her struggling with hypertension and unable to continue her daily activities. She also revealed Ketra has severe mobility challenges:
“Msichana anaitwa Ketra miguu yake yote mbili iko na hitilafu, mguu ya right ilifanywa operation iko na chuma na left ilichomeka akiwa mdogo ni kiwete kabisa,” she explained.
Police Investigations
The family reported the matter at Lucky Summer Police Station, and detectives managed to trace the last matatu the children reportedly boarded. However, the driver denied ever seeing them.
The family is now urging authorities and well-wishers to step up efforts to help bring the girls home.
