Wakadinali’s “Kumbaba” Music Video Pulled from YouTube Over Copyright Issues

Popular Kenyan hip hop group Wakadinali has suffered a setback after their hit music video “Kumbaba” was pulled down from YouTube due to copyright issues.

Why the Video Was Removed

According to YouTube’s copyright policy, videos flagged for copyright infringement are taken down pending resolution between the content creator and the rights holder. Kumbaba, which had quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of views since its release, was abruptly made unavailable this week.

Neither YouTube nor Wakadinali has issued an official statement clarifying the exact copyright claim, but industry insiders suggest it may involve unauthorized use of beats or visual material.

Fans React Online

The takedown has sparked disappointment among fans, with many flooding social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram to demand the video’s reinstatement. Some supporters also speculated that rivals in the industry may have had a hand in the copyright flag.

“Kumbaba was on repeat, now YouTube has taken it down. Kenyan music keeps facing unnecessary hurdles,” one fan posted on X.

What Next for Wakadinali?

Music analysts note that the group could either appeal the decision or negotiate directly with the copyright claimant to have the video restored. Meanwhile, their supporters continue streaming the track on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms where it remains available.

Wakadinali, known for their raw street anthems and loyal fanbase, have not commented publicly on the issue but are expected to address it in coming days.
