Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has opened up about her ongoing health struggles, sharing a deeply personal journey that has reshaped her outlook on life, fame, and strength.
In a heartfelt post shared on her social media platforms, the self-proclaimed President of Single Mothers revealed that she has been battling severe migraines, blood clots, and uterine fibroids — conditions that have taken a heavy toll on her body and spirit.
“Life slowed me down,” she wrote.
“I was diagnosed with severe migraines, blood clot, and uterine fibroids. They can’t locate where the blood clot is exactly. The last time they gave me blood thinner medication, I lost consciousness for about three hours. The doctors said it was a case of over-sedation,” Akothee explained.
‘My Peace Is Now My Prescription’
The singer, known for her vibrant energy and outspoken nature, said the experience has forced her to redefine what strength truly means.
“For years, I thought being strong meant pushing through pain, showing up no matter what, and smiling through storms,” she said.
“But now, I know real strength lies in rest, reflection, and healing.”
Akothee shared that she has since embraced a calmer, more intentional lifestyle, prioritizing mental peace and self-love over societal expectations.
“These conditions forced me to look at life differently. I can no longer shout, argue, or absorb unnecessary pressure. My peace is now my prescription. My calm is my survival,” she shared.
‘If I Die, Bury Me in 48 Hours’
In one of the most emotional parts of her message, Akothee gave clear instructions to her family and fans on what to do in the event of her death.
“If any of these monsters win or time comes, please bury me in 48 hours. If it finds me abroad, don’t struggle to bring my body back. My children have no energy to attend to guests,” she said.
“If you want to see me, enjoy me now. Show me love now. There is no genuine love shown to a dead body if it was never shown while they lived.”
Fans React with Support and Empathy
Fans and fellow celebrities flooded Akothee’s comment section with messages of love, encouragement, and prayers, applauding her honesty and vulnerability.
Mental health advocates have also praised her for using her platform to destigmatize women’s health issues, such as uterine fibroids and blood clot complications, which often go undiscussed in African societies.

A Shift Toward Wellness and Self-Love
Akothee concluded her post by reminding her followers to live intentionally and treat life as a gift.
“I’m learning to honor my body, to listen when it whispers instead of waiting for it to scream. I’m cutting off anything that threatens my peace—not out of pride, but out of protection,” she said.
