Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has dismissed as fake a viral poster circulating online that linked him to a new political coalition allegedly formed with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and other prominent leaders.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, Natembeya flagged the poster as false information, urging the public to ignore the claims.
“Ignore the fake poster circulating online. It’s propaganda,” Natembeya wrote, clarifying that no such coalition has been formed.
The Fake Poster
The viral image featured photos of Natembeya alongside Matiang’i, former Agriculture CS Peter Munya, former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, and former UNCTAD Secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi.
The poster suggested that the leaders were joining forces under a new political outfit — a claim that Natembeya has since strongly refuted.
Background of the Speculation
The clarification follows increased speculation after Natembeya and Matiang’i were seen together during a recent visit to Munya’s home.
On October 8, Matiang’i confirmed that they had visited Munya to offer condolences following the death of his grandmother, Mama Mwakairu Rukunga.
The former Interior CS, who has publicly declared his 2027 presidential ambitions, recently joined the Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party, under which he intends to contest the presidency.
Natembeya’s statement now aims to quell rumours of a broader political alliance forming among leaders from the Mt. Kenya and Western Kenya regions ahead of the next general election.
