DPP Secures Conviction After Six-Year Trial
In a judgment delivered at the Kwale High Court, Justice Andayi noted that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt, describing the killing as “premeditated and senseless.”
The conviction highlights the DPP’s ongoing efforts to deliver justice for victims of violent crimes across the country.
Two other suspects linked to the murder remain at large, and police say a manhunt is ongoing.
How the Murder Happened
According to court documents, the deceased, Ali Noor, and his friends attended a music event at Bidi Badu Club in Diani on the night of July 27, 2019.
At around 3:00 a.m., Noor and one of his friends left the venue on his motorcycle, dropping another companion along the way before proceeding toward Ngombeni.
It was during this trip that Noor was attacked and fatally assaulted. Investigations later led to the arrest and prosecution of Hassan, while two accomplices escaped.
The court sentenced him to 25 years imprisonment, noting the seriousness of the crime and its impact on the victim’s family.
