A 22-year-old man has been arrested as detectives investigate the death of a 19-year-old woman who fell from the fifth floor of a residential apartment in Kayole, Nairobi.
Police identified the deceased as Beraka Wambui, whose body was found outside the apartment building at about 5:40 p.m. on July 11 after residents reported hearing a loud bang.
According to preliminary investigations, Wambui had allegedly argued with her boyfriend shortly before the incident.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, assisted by Crime Scene Investigation officers, visited and processed the scene as part of the ongoing probe.
During the search, investigators recovered several household items bearing suspected blood stains from the apartment. The exhibits have been retained and submitted for forensic examination to help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The woman’s boyfriend was arrested and remains in police custody as detectives continue with investigations.
Police said the body was moved to the mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
