Former Cabinet Secretary and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has declared his intention to run for Nairobi Governor in 2027, promising to transform the capital city from what he termed as “a city of filth, garbage, and incompetence.”
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Kuria said he had heard the frustrations of Nairobi residents and was ready to provide a lasting solution.
“Nairobi cannot continue to be the city of filth, garbage and incompetence. I have heard your cry. That is why I will offer myself to be the Governor of the great County of Nairobi in 2027. I will fix Nairobi,” Kuria stated.
The former Trade and Industry CS emphasized his commitment to tackling the long-standing challenges facing Nairobi, including poor waste management, corruption in service delivery, and deteriorating infrastructure.
If he proceeds with his plan, Kuria will be among several high-profile politicians expected to vie for the Nairobi governorship in the upcoming 2027 General Election, joining what is anticipated to be a competitive race.
Political analysts say Kuria’s declaration signals a major political comeback after leaving the Cabinet earlier this year.
Kuria previously served under President William Ruto’s administration before being dropped during a Cabinet reshuffle in 2024.
As the 2027 elections approach, Nairobi politics continue to attract national attention, with the governorship viewed as one of the most influential positions in Kenyan politics.
