Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) emerged victorious in three MCA by-elections held on Thursday, securing key seats across the country.
In Kariobangi North Ward, David Wanyoike Warui clinched the seat with 2,282 votes, defeating independent candidate John Kimanzi who garnered 1,956 votes. ODM’s Majua Michael Ouma came third with 1,351 votes, while UDA’s Njoka Julius Maina secured 955 votes. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of former MCA Joel Munuve in April.
In Narok Town Ward, DCP’s Douglas Makonde won with 6,007 votes, beating UDA’s Robert Kanyinke Ole Kudate, who received 4,479 votes.
The Kisa East Ward poll saw DCP’s Aduda Okwiri victorious with 1,952 votes, defeating Joel Ongoro of MDG, who received 1,541 votes.
Gachagua praised his party’s candidates on social media, highlighting the rejection of voter bribery and intimidation in these contests. He urged future candidates under the DCP banner to remain engaged with the electorate and continue grassroots outreach.
This victory consolidates DCP’s presence as a rising force in Kenya’s political landscape, challenging older, established parties.
