MALAVA, Kenya, Nov 27 – Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako has claimed that a plot to assassinate him is underway, raising fresh tension in the highly contested Malava Constituency by-election.
Panyako told journalists that unknown individuals have been trailing him in recent days. He added that credible intelligence had warned him of people allegedly planning to harm him. Although he avoided naming suspects, he insisted that the threat was coordinated and politically driven.
“I have information that there are plans to eliminate me,” Panyako said, urging security agencies to act swiftly before the situation gets out of control.
Calls for Enhanced Security
Panyako requested additional police protection, saying that the safety of all aspirants must be guaranteed for the by-election to remain peaceful. He further pressed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
He argued that a secure political environment is essential for voters to participate confidently. His appeal comes as Kenya heads into multiple by-elections across the country.

Awaiting Security Response
Local security officials had not issued a public statement on Panyako’s allegations by the time of publication. The claims are likely to intensify scrutiny of the security arrangements in Kakamega County, where political competition has historically been vibrant and, at times, tense.
Meanwhile, the public continues to monitor developments closely, with many urging calm as campaigns enter their final stretch.
