President William Ruto has intensified his criticism of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing his predecessor of sponsoring the United Opposition and seeking to undermine his administration ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking while inspecting the Bukembe-Mutomolu road construction in Bungoma County on Friday, Ruto described Uhuru as the alleged financier behind opposition politicians campaigning on the “one-term” message.

Ruto: ‘Sponsor’ Will Not Stop My Re-election Bid

Ruto vowed to defeat the opposition, which he claimed was being used by his former boss to challenge his administration.

“Kuna sponsor ametuma wale jamaa wanashindana na mimi…Ni mafalaaaa sana…Ukiwauliza wanakuambia wametumwa waseme ‘one-term’…” said Ruto.

The President said the alleged sponsor had failed to provide the opposition with a clear political agenda, arguing that his administration would defeat the group in the 2027 elections.

“Sponsor wao hajawapea syllabus…Yule sponsor wa wale jamaa alishindwa na miradi… Hao jamaa nitawashinda asubuhi na mapema,” he added.

Ruto Accuses Uhuru of Failing Kenyans

Ruto also accused Uhuru, who is the Jubilee Party leader, of failing to deliver key projects during his presidency.

The President said he had supported Uhuru’s rise to power but claimed his former boss failed to implement major programmes that had been promised to Kenyans.

“Yule sponsor wa hii watu mimi nilimbebaa.. lakini alishindwa kuleta affordable housing na universal health care,” Ruto stated.

He further mocked Uhuru over the alleged financial support being extended to opposition activities.

“Hawapei hata hao pesa ya kutosha… Sasa wanachanga pesa ya mafuta na wewe ni billionaire,” he said.

The latest remarks deepen the growing political confrontation between Ruto and his predecessor as political formations begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Ruto Announces Funding for School Talent

Earlier, while presiding over the 2026 National Music Festival Gala at Bungoma State Lodge, Ruto announced that education co-curricular activities would receive a dedicated budget allocation.

The President said music, drama and sports in schools would be supported as part of efforts to nurture skills and talents among learners.
