Protesters marching to State House on Monday were dispersed after General Service Unit (GSU) officers deployed teargas at the Nyerere Road–Mamlaka Road junction.
The demonstration, organised by parents and relatives of youths killed during the 2024–2025 anti-government protests, aimed to demand justice and accountability from the government. The march was announced on Sunday and sought an audience with President William Ruto over what they described as prolonged delays in delivering justice.
The assembly began early Monday morning at Jeevanjee Gardens, with anti-riot police deployed from the outset. As protesters advanced along Procession Way, GSU officers had mounted a roadblock at the Nyerere–Mamlaka Road junction. Efforts to continue the march were met with increased police presence and teargas, forcing the demonstrators to disperse.
Protesters criticised the government for delays in justice and compensation disbursement, despite a presidential proclamation issued on August 8, 2025, which established a framework for reparations to victims of police violence dating back to 2017.
