Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has revealed that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is unwell and was unable to attend the Kimalel Goat Auction in Baringo County.
Speaking during the event on Monday, December 22, Ruku told residents that the Deputy President had sent him to represent him at the function as a sign of solidarity with the people of Baringo.
Ruku said that despite being indisposed, Kindiki remained committed to the community and had contributed funds towards the purchase of goats at the auction ahead of the Christmas festivities.
“I have been sent by your Deputy President, who is not feeling well. He told me to greet the people of Baringo when I arrive,” Ruku said. “He also sent me a lot of money to buy goats for Christmas. So if you see that he is not here, know that he has sent me and is with you in spirit.”
The revelation drew applause from the crowd, with leaders present lauding Kindiki’s gesture as a demonstration of continued support for the region even in his absence.
The Kimalel Goat Auction is an annual event that brings together leaders, traders, and residents, and is viewed as a key economic and social activity in the area, especially during the festive season
