Digital creator Mzungu Fresh had fans deeply concerned after sharing a dramatic tale about a whirlwind romance with a Kenyan woman that allegedly left him broke and stranded, unable to return to his home country. However, the influencer has now revealed that the entire story was fabricated as a prank.
Speaking on a local radio station on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Mzungu Fresh narrated how the supposed romance began in Mombasa, describing it as a brief but intense two-month relationship that spiralled into a costly financial commitment.
According to his initial account, what started with small expenses such as Uber rides and beauty treatments quickly escalated into major financial obligations. He claimed he paid the woman’s rent, bought furniture, and even supported her family.
The content creator went on to allege that he travelled to her village, where he met her grandmother and purchased household items and livestock.
“I met a girl in Mombasa, fell in love, paid all her bills, and now I don’t have enough money to go back to my country,” he said during the interview.
He added that love clouded his judgment.
“When you fall in love, many things change. I thought it was true love… I was paying for her lashes, Uber, rent, furniture, even rent for her mother. I bought a washing machine and goats. I didn’t know what I was doing,” he said.
Mzungu Fresh further claimed that the situation reached a breaking point when he realised he lacked enough money to return home. He alleged that after sharing his financial struggles with his partner, she immediately ended the relationship and blocked him across all platforms.
“She said she didn’t want to be with me anymore because I was a broke mzungu. She blocked me everywhere. I can’t reach her. I can’t go home,” he lamented.
The emotional story sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans expressing sympathy while others questioned its authenticity.
However, Mzungu Fresh later came clean, revealing that the story was entirely made up. He admitted there were no expensive bills, no goats, and no heartbreak, explaining that he fabricated the narrative to gauge how his audience would react.
The revelation has since sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some amused by the prank and others criticising the influencer for misleading the public.
