Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika has visited Tule Kienyeji Restaurant after the eatery’s owner, Harriet Akinyi, went viral on TikTok while appealing for help over declining business.

Akinyi had earlier shared an emotional video explaining that she was on the verge of closing the restaurant due to low customer turnout and mounting operational costs. In the clip, she revealed plans to sell the business, a plea that quickly resonated with Kenyans online and sparked massive support.

Following the viral appeal, customers have been flocking to the restaurant in large numbers, with the eatery reportedly operating at full capacity.

During her visit on Monday, Governor Kihika praised Akinyi’s resilience and announced that the County Government of Nakuru would waive the restaurant’s operating licence fees, offering relief as the business recovers.

The governor noted that the move is part of efforts to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the county and encourage entrepreneurship.
