Police in Bungoma County have launched investigations after an 18-year-old student collapsed and died while playing football at school.
The deceased was a Form Four student at Chemche Day High School. According to police reports, the student was participating in a football game with fellow learners on Saturday evening when he suddenly collapsed on the pitch.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police officers later moved the body to a local mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and further details will be released once the autopsy is conducted.
