Social media has been ablaze in recent days following viral videos allegedly showing a man of Russian descent secretly filming encounters with multiple women in Nairobi.
The man, identified online as Yayteslav Truhov, was seen approaching women in streets and shopping malls, engaging them in brief conversations that often ended with him obtaining their contact details and arranging later meetings.
The footage would then cut to scenes recorded inside his apartment, with some clips showing the women dancing and interacting in private settings. Reports have also emerged claiming he carried out similar activities in Accra, further intensifying online debate.
Real Estate Agent Claims Video Was Misleading
One of the women featured in the viral clips, a real estate agent, has since come forward to clarify her side of the story. She stated that the video involving her was edited in a way that created a misleading narrative.
According to her, they initially met at a mall where they discussed property matters after he expressed interest in finding an apartment. She later visited his home under the impression that they would continue a professional conversation about real estate.
However, she alleged that the discussion shifted away from business, claiming that Truhov began making advances toward her. She said she immediately demanded reimbursement for her transport, declined food he offered, and eventually accepted the equivalent of KSh 2,500 to cover taxi fare before leaving.
The woman maintained that she informed him she was married and even advised him to approach other women instead. She insisted that nothing inappropriate occurred between them.
Marriage Fallout and Divorce Threat
During a recent TikTok live session, the agent revealed that the viral video has severely affected her marriage. She claimed her husband now wants a divorce due to the embarrassment caused by the circulating footage.
“My family is at stake. Everything is so messed up. My husband wants a divorce because, with all the shame, he cannot handle it. There is no way that I can lie about this. It has been so hard to clear my name. This is also a shame to me,” she said.
She added that her family members, including her mother and relatives, had seen the video, further deepening the emotional distress.
Online Debate Continues
The viral “Russian man” trend has sparked intense discussions across Kenyan social media platforms about privacy, consent, digital ethics, and reputational damage in the age of viral content.
As more individuals speak out, the controversy continues to dominate headlines and online conversations in Kenya.
