Uber Technologies has expanded beyond ride-hailing and food delivery by officially introducing hotel booking services within its app, signaling a major step toward becoming an all-in-one digital platform.
The new feature, launched through a partnership with Expedia Group, allows users to search, browse, and book from more than 700,000 hotels worldwide directly inside the Uber app.
Uber also announced plans to broaden its travel offerings later this year by incorporating vacation rentals from Vrbo, further strengthening its position in the online travel market.
According to company executives, the expansion is part of Uber’s long-term strategy to evolve into an “Everything App” — a single digital ecosystem where users can access transportation, food delivery, shopping, and travel services without switching between platforms.
The hotel booking tool is designed to integrate seamlessly with Uber’s existing services, enabling users to organise accommodation, airport rides, and food delivery all in one place.
Subscribers to Uber’s premium membership service are also expected to enjoy additional benefits, including discounts on selected hotels and reward credits on bookings, encouraging customers to remain within the Uber ecosystem.
The move places Uber in more direct competition with established online travel booking platforms as the company continues diversifying its services beyond transport.
Industry analysts view the launch as part of a broader global trend where tech companies are racing to create super apps that combine multiple services into a single platform for convenience and customer retention.
