The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned Zaheer Jhanda as investigations into the violent attack on the Linda Mwananchi convoy at Keumbu along the Kisii–Keroka Road gather momentum.
In a statement issued on Sunday, July 5, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed that the legislator has been directed to appear before the DCI offices in Kisii County to assist with ongoing investigations.
Four More Suspects Arrested
Police also announced the arrest of four additional suspects, bringing the total number of people in custody over the incident to seven.
According to the NPS, the latest arrests followed a coordinated security operation conducted by officers from Keumbu Police Station and detectives from the DCI Kisii Central.
The operation is part of an ongoing effort to identify and apprehend everyone involved in the violent attack that disrupted traffic along the Kisii–Keroka Road on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Investigations Continue
The National Police Service said detectives are pursuing additional leads to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any other individuals who may have participated in the attack.
Police have not indicated whether more arrests or summonses are expected, stating only that investigations remain active.
The incident attracted national attention after a convoy carrying Linda Mwananchi leaders was reportedly ambushed by groups of stone-throwing youths at Keumbu, disrupting traffic and prompting a major security response.
